Dive in the nautical trend
This year, we’re set for a complete revitalisation of the sailor uniform. An updated, luxe interpretation is coming to the fore, imagine Grace Kelly sitting on board a yacht in Monte Carlo, and you’re almost there.
Jonathan Saunders led the fleet on the catwalks, with a fresh and uplifting take on the trend. A refreshing colour palette of orange, sky blue and mint green set against a simple backdrop of white gave an overtly feminine and unique twist to a trend typically dominated by masculine cuts and block colours. Floral patterns adorned corset tops, blazers and skirts, in a feast of tropical colours that whisked the wearer to far sunnier climes.
Sailor stripes were brought to life by Miuccia Prada for this season, who also decided that traditional red, white and blue just wouldn’t cut it.
Bright pink, orange, green and blue were once again thrown together in a tropical infusion, perfectly finished off with fruity accessories, whilst Raf Simons went the more traditional route with navy and white for Jil Sander’s billowing, easy breezy summer dresses.
This departure from the typical colour palettes and the usual suspects of Breton jerseys and white denim makes for a unique and fabulously fun and fashionable affair. Grab your florals, don a white blazer, and get ready to set sail…
