Marc Jacobs Resort 2012:
Here Comes the Sun
Fresh on the heels of his Lifetime Achievement Award from the CFDA, Marc Jacobs just debuted his Resort 2012 collection, and this soft, sweet and flowery collection couldn’t be any further from his Fall 2012 collection. While fall was severe with airtight rubber pencil skirts and precise with uber ladylike designs, Resort was all about youthfulness, full of sun-bleached separates ranging from striped sweatshirts and tanks to anoraks and wasp-waisted strapless dresses. Two distinct patterns—oversized paisley and pastel daisies—were printed on the reverse side of the fabrics to further achieve the worn-in and faded feel of the garb. Of course, Jacobs added a touch of luxe and flair by using sequins, crystals, cabochon studs and metallic laser-cut faux leathers to the nonchalant collection. All indications are showing that Jacobs is dead on-trend with his use of casualwear as a segue into eveningwear.
