Skaist-Taylor Fall-Winter 2012
“California Eccentrics”
February 12, 2012: Introducing Skaist-Taylor
The new collection by Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor

As Co-Founders and Creative Directors, Pamela and Gela have instilled their passion and perspective to their chapter 2: Skaist-Taylor. The collection is autobiographical and a homecoming in every sense. Each design is touched by the duo’s cultivated blend of “California Eccentric”: a love for effortless, wearable and indulgent pieces.
The mix of luxury and ease underscored by a beautiful hand to fabrications of all varieties, from red fox fur to a signature blend of “California Cashmere” – and a sprinkle of the outrageous – defines a return to a way of dressing Pam and Gela have championed and developed.
Washed winter-sky blue, stark black and white and glowing amber hues set a palette for the Fall-Winter 2012 season. Paisley or “cowhide” prints are applied to milky-silk chiffon skirts and dresses that move. Furs are meant to be layered – over one another or perhaps over a cashmere tweed duster or t-shirt at whim. The alternatives are plentiful: softly-tufted wool knits that come in several variations.
The collection is punctuated with the decorative – a crystal-embroidered giraffe motif applied to a sculpted bomber jacket, a perfect python mini skirt, and liquid lamé.
Things to be lived in: draped wool crepe, lofty knits and soft corduroy pencil-leg or flared trousers are the new staples. Colours and washes are never too precise: cotton twill separates, including a fitted “jean” jacket are neutral, with inky, ever-so-subtly streaked washes.
“This is us. It’s everything we are obsessed with, and want to wear. The collection is a return to our roots – who we are and who we have always been, with no constraints. We are two-of-a-kind, and this is the genesis of our brand.” – Pam and Gela
