Givenchy & Giambattista Valli, Paris FW
Stand in ovation for both designer´s collections
Givenchy:
“Equestrian style”
For Givenchy’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, Riccardo Tisci showed a strong lineup of equestrian-inspired looks comprised of structural leather dresses, luxurious over-the-knee riding boots, and sexy lace. Precision cut jackets were paired with jodpur trousers, and full pleated skirts were styled with cropped caplet jackets driving home the riding theme. Tisci’s signature hard-edge style was present in every look; dresses ranged from architectural leather renditions to embellished boudoir-like slip dresses showing sexy slits and sheer detailing. For added texture, Tisci’s showcased sumptuous two-tone short sleeve jackets and tricolor vests.

Giambattista Valli:
“Trousers are the key for the season”
Y Valli’s strengths are his affinity with the traditionally feminine: deep ruffle hems, bows and jeweled embellishments, and his ability to make them light and contrived.
But for every lady-like look this season there is a masculine counterpoint. Trousers will be key next winter – and traditionally this is not Valli’s territory. But his slouchy, tapered black trousers looked great, worn either with flat satin mules or with block-colored platform Mary Janes – and topped with geometric print tunics
