Kate Moss

Katherine “Kate” Moss, was born on January 16, 1974 in Addiscombe, Croydon, England. Kate is an English fashion model best known for her waif look, controversial private life, high profile romantic relations and her love for the nightlife. Kate Moss’ thin, boyish figure changed the modeling world and caused some controversy within the industry. She was first discovered at age 14 at the JFK airport in New York. In 1993, Moss’ career hit an all-time high when she appeared in Calvin Klein’s Obsession ad campaign. Throughout the duration of Moss’ career, she has graced the cover of over 300 magazines as well as been featured in fashion campaigns for top designers including Chanel and Christian Dior as well as beauty campaigns for Rimmel. Kate Moss is also considered to be an international fashion icon. In 2005, the CFDA awarded Moss with the Fashion Icon award. She was also featured on Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List.





Due to Moss’ fame and high-profile career, her personal life as been laid out for all to see. Her vices developed at a young age and only worsened as her fame grew. The British model has done stints in alcohol addiction facilities throughout her life, but has also battled drug addiction. In September of 2005, photos of Moss snorting cocaine with her boyfriend, Peter Doherty, circulated through the press. The minute the scandal broke, Moss lost many of her upcoming, profitable modeling contracts. Shortly thereafter, Moss checked herself into the Meadows Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona for drug treatment.

But, Moss bounced back – stronger than ever; she obtained new modeling contracts with Calvin Klein and Burberry. That same year, clothing retailer Topshop asked Moss to design her own collection and her own fragranced called “Kate.” Moss has since created a second perfume called “Velvet Hour.”

In 2002, Kate Moss had a daughter named Lila Grace, with magazine publisher Jefferson Hack. In 2007, Kate Moss and Peter Doherty broke up for good. She has since been linked with British rocker, Jamie Hince.

Aside from her successful career and somewhat dramatic personal life, Moss has been considered the reason that denim cutoff shorts, Ugg boots, ballet flats, skinny jeans, waistcoats, and the Balenciaga handbag gained such vast popularity.
