Resort 2013 Runway Part. 2

Thakoon

Resort 2013 meant Fred Wilson’s chandeliers and the “architecture of frosting” for fashion designer Thakoon. We were pleasantly surprised with the final product being a generous mix of textures, materials and printed all done in pleasing palette of pastels. Thakoon expertly coupled sharp geometric shapes with rounded tailoring… reminiscent of frosting.

Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg looked to the beauty of the U.S. as her main inspiration for her Resort 2013 collection, titled Zoom. This muse was particularly noticeable in the wide variety of prints that were spotted in this series including Florida palm trees and city skylines. Key styles were flowy silk blouses contrasted with form fitting dresses and tailored jacket all done in an array of vacation ready colors.

Azzaro

Azzaro was all about the cocktails this season. The designer’s uniquely created a palette by titling the colors “pina colada white,” “maraschino red,” “curacao blue” and “whiskey gold.” Some of the collection’s highlights included “lips on a glass” embroidered chiffon, draped jersey and a lame jogging suit. Resort 2013 gave us easy cocktail dressing, which is a welcomed change to Azzaro’s typical assortment. However, Azzaro’s signature evening gowns stole the show.
