Retro Swimwear

After years of the miniscule bikini swamping our beaches, it is finally time for the swimsuit to regain its throne. A wave of nostalgia washes over our beaches and catwalks, as the 1950’s swimsuit is all the rage this Spring/Summer 2012. It incorporates GLAMOUR, VINTAGE and PIN-UP all in one quick visit to the beach.

Rochas, Anteprima and Cristiano Burani have created collections based around those pin-up film stars we would so desperately love to be, using a strapless neckline and skinny waist belt. Designers like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chanel and D&G go for the more demour all in one figure flattering swimsuit, whilst Peter Som, Paul & Joe and Antonio Marras tease us with some more sultry retro two-piece numbers.

Flattering necklines, high waisted bikini bottoms and deceiving retro prints might not be what you normally look for in your beach attire, but they are the surprise and ever so wonderful trend of this season.

This trend can flatter all of our figures, hiding those unwanted lumps and bellies whilst elongating our legs, it’s a look we all MUST encourage. Try teaming them with an oversized sunhat, wicker bag and cats eyed sunglasses, and you will be sure to make a statement this holiday season!
