Mischa Barton’s new Boutique in London
Hollywood arrived at Spitalfields Market by Kristina von Oertzen, editor & founder of myshoppingspy.com
Spitalfields Market received a Hollywood sprinkling last month when Mischa Barton’s first boutique opened its doors on Brushfield Street.
After successfully designing handbags since 2008 Mischa has stepped further into fashion by adding a clothing line to her label. Mischa’s clothing collection is in her own words ‘Forties-meets-Seventies with the occasional bit of Twenties’. This translates into an impressive range of casual day & evening dresses, skirts, jumpsuits and scarfs. Some very simple, others sparkly, but all very laid back and best of all – affordable. Prices range from £25 for a faux leather purse to £210 for a stole with fur trimmings.
It was important for the actress-turned-designer to offer her fans cool accessible fashion. After all not everyone can splash out thousands on designer shopping.
The clothing collection is inspired by Mischa’s own Bohemian style and iconic London fashion store Biba. It is functional and easy to wear, however quality-wise not mind-blowing. Flying off the shelves is a floral number with lace details and the swan dress, a tulle prom dress available in either black or white. Go for the whole look and style it edgy with the band jacket or girly with the Chloe cardigan. Also worth a second look is the range of leggings that come in various styles and patterns.

Mischa’s key looks include the Michael Jacket, a slim fit rocker military jacket with embellished padded shoulders; The Aspen Waistcoat, a knit fur polyester blend with deep pockets and tassels; The Mischa Signature Jacket with romantic embroidered sleeves and cut out hearts and the Banded Legging, a super soft Luxury Legging featuring a horizontal band.
Mischa’s handbag line is now in its ninth season with a huge following in the US and Europe. Inspired by her international travels and the vintage treasures she brings home from these trips it offers a mix of small clutches, totes, cross-body and oversized slouch bags. Most handbags are in animal friendly faux leather, which explains their low price tag.
Hardcore fans should not miss Mischa’s new Make-up and beauty range. Dress up from head to toe in products designed and put together by your favourite Hollywood actress – what more to want?!
