Fashion Icons and Influences
Fashion is so much more than precise fit, luxurious fabrics and sophisticated silhouette. Fashion is about the wearer; whether it be a slender supermodel or red carpet celebrity. Let’s take a look at some of history’s most noted, loved and influential fashion icons.
First, one of my favorites, Audrey Hepburn. Known for her clean and elegant style, Audrey Hepburn intrigued the fashion industry almost immediately. Her grace and sensible fashion choices inspired design powerhouses such as Givenchy and Ferragamo. Hepburn has been referred to as one of the most beautiful women in the world, as well as one of the most stylish women of all time. Long after her death, Hepburn’s spirit continues to influence major stars and modern fashion icons.

Brigitte Bardot is also amongst fashion’s most iconic. Of French descent, Bardot became known for her sex appeal, curves, bright blonde hair (and also for making St. Tropez rather fashionable). During the 1950’s and 60’s, Bardot made gingham and bows lust-worthy items. The “Bardot look” has remained a theme used in some of today’s high fashion editorial photo shoots.

We can’t forget to mention Jane Birkin after all, the famed Birkin bag was named after this fashionista. That’s not all she is famous for though… her straight bangs, and gapped teeth charmed the industry in an unlikely way. Her work in Blow-Up and Slogan are truly what helped make her mark.
