Matthew Williamson PreFall 2013

The designer draws inspiration from Nordic Folk culture

“Nature never fails to provide me with a rich source of inspiration. This season I wanted to contrast all the natural, earthy elements of the collection with very clean lines and intense pops of synthetic colour.”

For Pre Fall ’13 Matthew Williamson draws inspiration from Nordic Folk culture, country huntsman, and winter terrains of glacial lakes and pine forests. Combined with modern feminine lines, digital graphic prints and fresh colour combinations the collection creates an essential directional wardrobe for the Matthew Williamson woman.

The palette’s warm highlights of fiery vermillion, intense fuchsia and amethyst pop against neutral deep plum and a dusty tea rose, while cooler soft tones of teal, grey marl and ice blue are accented with acid lime and grass green.

Dress silhouettes are modern and flirty with godet details creating fluted hems, and soft twisted knots in chiffon and crepe – reminiscent of wrapped huntsman’s rope. Tailoring accentuates the female form with patch-worked diagonal chevrons, and folk-inspired yoke details highlighted with delicate cord piping. In outerwear swan-necked collars are finished in hand crafted leather blanket stitch detailing, and soft lantern sculptured sleeves add volume to clean lines.
