Playing Chequers

This season our runways are a patchwork of colour and patterns, combined with structure and simplicity; the bold and graphic chequered print is defining the new season.

Louis Vuitton, based their entire collection around the Chequered print, varying colours from monochrome to greens and yellows, it was a chequered sensation. It was a delicious combination of the sixties, structural shapes and demure accessories to match.

Other designers like Emporio Armani, Balmain and Chanel delivered with the structural check also, incorporating the suit jacket with the skirt to match. This game of chequers was played in most collections this Spring season, Marc by Marc Jacobs used both large and small blocks, covering swimsuits, and all dresses, ankle length to mini’s.

How can we blend this trend in to our own wardrobe? Mix and match the style and sizes of your check, or pair similar styles in contrasting colours. Pair your new outfit with simple jewellery, as big beads and bangles with only detract from this outstanding pattern sensation
