fn platform: pastel pantone

To kick off my coverage for Magic, I decided to share one of the most mind boggling areas of the trade show. Introducing FN Platform, a massive production that showcases over 1,500 shoe wear brands across every spectrum of the footwear industry. To cover this massive spectacle in an angle that would be most comprehensive (and underwhelming) for me, I decided to focus in on a specific angle of FN Platform. As the title indicates above, this post is dedicated to spring’s emerging trend: Pastel pantone.

It’s clear to see why pastels are gaining their moment. It’s easy on the eye and looks pristine on any skin tone. The cotton candy colors are youthful and feminine, and they blend so seamlessly with other “baby” like hues. From left to right: Bass x Rachel Antonoff brogues, Pour La Victoire criss cross platforms, Rowen buckled heels, Vivienne Westwood pearl ankle straps, Gee Wawa distressed flatforms.

One thing to note was that footwear brands at FN Platform gave off a completely different vibe from the rest of the trade shows. Our tour guide during orientation believes it’s because they love each other more than the fashion brands do. Whatever the reason may be, whenever the shoe label’s designer was present, I found myself completely engaged in a conversation about how excited the designer was about their product. Unfortunately, feeding off that energy made me excited about buying everything they showed me. But fortunately for my wallet, there were no cash and carry’s. Phew.

Well, hope you guys are excited about Spring 2012 foot wear as much as I am. Thank you to all the participating labels featured above!
