I should have taken note of the clouds coming through the mountain as I shot these photos that the weather forecasts were no festival joke, and that the freakishly cold Friday would unveil the first time ever Coldchella. Luckily an accident that was due more to laziness than preparation left Michael and I fully equipped with an emergency set of winter wear in the car trunk. A floral print duster can only do so much for warmth until rapid winds and rain kicks in, ending all the pretending of looking Kate Moss chic in the rain during Glastonbury. Luckily this Blessed are the Meek dress was the perfect transition dress for both occasions. The open back detailing and waistline grommets just elevates it to a whole new level of awesome.

 If we’re friends on Instagram this all may be just repetition, but above is a snippet of my weekend at Coachella in no particular order. Since I”m going to keep this post pg rated and name drop free, all in all it was a blast and I had an amazing time bonding with the Threadsence team and their TS Coachella girls. Coachella is heaps of fun because everything it represents and events it entails are truly bizarre and formulated for a memorable time. An unnatural migration of 100,000 people moving towards the desert for a weekend could justify that. Especialy when water is more expensive than alcohol and the abundance of pool parties are showcase of the multiple ways to wear 2 inches of cloth. Just a few things that never ceases to amaze me. Nevertheless, the bands were amazing (Miike Snow, Florence and the Machine, M83 to name a few) and I still can’t shake off the feeling of how epic Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre’s and Tupac Hologram’s performance was on Sunday night.

This is from last summer but I can’t get it out of my head. I want / love / covet everything featured in this editorial, starting from the Zimmermann dress all the way down to Lover’s Lace. Montenegro, is that you? 

Donning head-to-toe pastels during Easter brunch with my family. I couldn’t decline pairing sorbet hues on a day that couldn’t be more appropriate for it, so I layered on the mint, lemon and peach toned hues excessively and shamelessly. As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, these Super Sunglasses are one of my favorite pair of shades, so I was pretty excited to discover that they’ve expanded their range of colors to hues like Electric Blue, Light Green and Light Pink. Another guilty pleasure I dove into (aside from dressing like a dessert) was racking up on the post holiday candy sales at the local drug stores and super market. I’m convinced that Easter m&m’s are just ten times tastier when they’re coated with bunny ears. I know I’m wrong, but I can’t be the only one!

Coachella’s just around the corner, and this year marks not my first, second or third–but fifth pilgrimage to Indio for the festival! It’s crazy to think that the first time I went to Coachella when I was fourteen, Black Keys was just an opening act. This year? A headliner. It’s crazy how quickly life changes and passes you by. Anyway below is a brief list of some Coachella essentials to pack for the trip! Though I’ve failed to mention some other key essentials, like an open knit cardigan, bales of sunscreen and lots, and lots of maxi dresses. 1. Zimmermann Amity Underwired Bikini-The most basic necessity. If there’s anything you plan on leaving, make sure this isn’t it.
2.  Alaïa Studded Leather Sandals-Let’s face it ladies, part of the fun is dressing up for the festival. Finding a cute pair of flat footwear has never been more pivotal than when mid-April rolls around.
3. Super ‘Lucia‘ Sunglasses-My favorite shades of all time, aside from Karen Walker’s ‘Number One’. I grabbed myself this rose tinted pair just in time for spring.
4. Emma Cook Lace Trimmed ‘Georgette’ Shorts-A distressed denim alternative. A light weight breathable material means skirting around having to deal with sweaty / chaffed thighs.
5. Proenza Schouler PS1 Wallet-The old saying that goes “Less is more” has never been truer than now. The less you pack, the more you’ll thank your back. Although price gouging for water and food is notorious inside the festival, it’s almost worth the cost to carry the bare minimum, bite the bullet and just spend the cash instead of carrying around a burlap sack of necessities. Simply because there is lots, and lots, and lots of walking.
6. Topshop Sleeveless Drape Blouse-Light and airy, perfect blouse for dressing in the dry arid desert.
7. Mixed Pastel Bangles-I want to avoid using the word “quirky” and “cute”, but this is exactly what it is.
8. Lomography Diana Mini Camera- Since security doesn’t allow in SLR cameras, rotating to film is a fun alternative to document all the madness. It makes for a much more raw experience of the festivals, since there is no way to press ‘delete’ on any of the candids.

As I’ve last shared in one of my recent posts, my friend Mo and her business partner Karen are launching Buttons and Bows, a designer vintage and shop located in the heart of Downtown LA. The launch party is tomorrow night with an after party located in one of my new favorite spots, The Pattern Bar. We shot this editorial inspired by our mutual obsession over Bianca Jagger struttin’ her stuff in New York City during the sixties and seventies. To pay that homage, we whipped out all the cream, beige and snake skin prints, along with pieces from the Studio 54 era that had a subtle, dance-floor ready vibe. Spent one of the days road tripping through the island in my favorite type of get up: A light blazer and short combo with the most basic of staple tees. Even though the majority of the ride was terrifying (aka. constantly in fear that the rental car would break down at any moment), taking refuge every so often at the beach front souvenir shops filled with nothing but overpriced water and hammocks served to be the best type of breather in a tropical heat. In one of those stops, I shot by these rocky shores right before heading to Mr. Sancho’s–a sea side playground filled with the type of recreational activities you’d find on a Japanese game shows. Let’s just say crossing through an inflatable balance beam on the water is a lot harder than it looks–and falling off? A lot more painful too. 

I’m so enthralled with anything Finders Keepers at the moment. In particular this thin, bright playsuit was perfect for the paradise back drop that greeted me once I arrived to Cozumel. The breezy, pleated shorts and peek-a-boo cut out had bare just the right amount of skin for that warm Caribbean afternoon. I got back home late last night and as I usually do after coming home from a vacation, I felt a twinge of sadness leaving the island. Perhaps it was the reality call of a long week of school waiting for me or the inclination to keep traveling, in hopes to spend every waking moment carelessly hanging out in the sun, but traveling whether it’s for work or play always pushes me to live for the moment, instead of planning for them. But with Coachella in less than two weeks away and summer vacation in June, here’s to a few weeks of day dream and planning more travels to feed a hungry, free spirited soul.
